The image I posted is displayed by .http://www.literotica.com/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=670978.
Placing <IMG SRC="http://www.literotica.com/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=670978"> in my signature then displays the image in my signature line as a psuedo-avatar.
For those going to Las Vegas who don't have enough posts for the avatar function in the control panel to be available, this is how you can put up an avatar for me to use as your name-tag.

The image refered to in the first post, is the attachment to that post. It's stored in the BB attachment database, so calling the attachment.php script in you signature line works just like clicking on the link to see the attachment.

Just above the submit button on the newreply.php form is the box to submit an attachment to a post. Attaching an image to a post uploads it from your computer to the BB attachment database.
If the image is already on the web, you can save the picture to your harddrive and then upload it as an attachment if the site that hosts it blocks "hotlinking." If the site allows hotlinking, then you can just use the picture's existing URL to put it in your signature line instead of http://www.literotica.com/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=670978 in the img src= statement.

You CAN upload a graphic to lit. Attachments just don't show as a picture in the post until you click on a link. If you cut and paste the first statement above into your signature line it will show your avatar in your signature line too. Just as the image I attached in the first post shows in my signature when I copy the "img src=" statement back into my signature line.

You need to go to "User CP" and "Edit Profile" and put the HTML code in your signature.
BTW, Geocities does not allow hotlinking so that particular image won't show up. You need to copy it and attach it to a post here and use the attachment.php link as your image source.

The URL and syntax are correct.
Now all you need to do is cut and paste that into your signature.
Click on the button a top center of any BB page that says "User CP" Then click on "Edit Profile" at the top left of the page that comes up. Halfway down the Edit Profile page is a box to put your signature in.
There is also a check box there (or on the edit options page) to show signature by default) so you don't need to check the show signature box on every reply.
