in the simple act of
sliding my hand in yours
praying and hoping for
your heart's acceptance
all my hopes and dreams
of what we once shared
were
  SHATTERED
when you
pulled your hand

      last
         heartbeat
              of
                love

I like the look but the my last heartbeat of love piece seemed a little out of place, maybe a different line would fit better? Make clearer the meaning?

Sad

Lot of sad stories could be read into this. Really well done.

Poignant

Poignant and very interesting and effective structuring.

Thought provoking.
