The morning dawned so bright and clear,
A start to a new day of hope,
Little did we know of the terror and fear,
That some nameless faces would soon invoke.

We went about our daily routines,
Setting off for school and work,
Never expecting that our lives soon would change,
Or the terrible cost we would witness in human life.

We were so sure of our places in the day,
We were comfortable in the lives we led,
We never saw these rapists coming,
Their intent to raid our beds.

Then in an instant, terror rained down from the sky,
It crashed into our buildings,
And the first thoughts to cross our minds,
Were to ask why oh God, please just tell us why?

Then we stood so tall and proud,
hands reaching out to hands,
Strangers we'd never known before,
Came running in heartfelt bands.

Our fear and terror did not last for long,
It turned into a mighty resolve,
We are the United States of America,
And no terrorists, be he big or small, will strip from us our freedom loving shroud.

We've been brought closer together,
than we've seen in many years,
We've seen the blood of our countrymen,
and stand united in our tears.

You may think that today you won,
But it's not the victory you sought,
All you've done is remind us,
Of why so many before us fought.

Now we too will take up arms,
And fight against the likes of you,
You'll soon be finding out,
Exactly what it is that you did do.

We are the United States of America,
You strengthened our country today,
You've brought us back together,
And with God and our freedom we choose to stay.

God Bless these United States of America
