the democracy of our government
was shaped by the American Indian,
but yet live on reservations
and are only known as tribes -
a part of my heritage; though,
i'm also Caucasian, what makes it a race?

the backbone of the drum,
is a musicians beat that originates
out of Africa, but yet,
this ethnic bond supports
the entire country
with its minority roots -
though i'm not of this race.

it is said that roger bacon invented
the camera just before the year of 1300.
like any picture developed -
this snapshot of this country,
i expose in the darkroom.

banking originated in ancient Mesopotamia,
but yet money was developed
in many parts of the world.
but America developed paper currency
due to a shortage of coins;
it introduced inflation and debt -
isn't it wonderful?

what does this country
possess in originality,
except for what i read in the newspaper,
of which has been quoted as a pack
of lies right from the top -
especially the headlines of Iraq.

if it makes you feel any better,
i'll borrow from Abe Lincoln -
in that knowledge obtained
is the greatest asset
i can ever achieve
in this country - don't you agree?

I liked it...

although your poem is very controversial and loaded with innuendo's along with some disparaging remarks... However I do hope that you write more of the same... But this time could you please keep it either shorter or just stick to attacking/ explaining one theme.

Freedom.

It's times like this we have to ask ourselves where do we live? Oh, yeah ~ America! Last I heard we still have free speech and dissent is permissable.

retro B.S.

conservatism shines in your comment and i appreciate it. however i can say you are a very poor critic. respectable critics leave their name. that means in this case - YOU have nothing to stand up on. 1201 is a critic and he backs it up. the only thing that matters here, is, you left a response as i ruffled your feathers. awwww......lets have a conservative pity party.

BS

Your knowledge of history sucks, you've bought in to retro-liberal demagoguery available on kook, wimpy, liberal web sites and you think if you read the Washington Post, you know what's going on. Bovine Scatology is the BEST thing one can say about this trivial, meandering...something. I don't know what to call it; it's most assuredly not poetry, and you aren't an intellectual.

I believe it was China developed paper currency - doesn't matter. As poetry, it lacks a little. Problem is, I can see you standing up and delivering this, than it all makes sense.

I applaud this venture into length.
