A Daydream
One day as I sat by a quiet little pond,
a sadness was in me; I felt all alone...
I gazed out across the water and thought,
then wondered aloud why I was so distraught...
As if it could answer I started to speak,
to a lily drifting near my water soaked feet...
I asked the white lily just what I should think,
then, to my surprise, it smiled back and winked...
It said, "You’re never alone if you don’t want to be,
for the power to change that is inside you, you see...
Just ponder each smile that you’ve ever had,
and wear them all now; you won’t be so sad...
Close your eyes tight and set your mind easy,
then think of your loved one and there you shall be...
Think of their warmth, think of their skin,
think of their cuddles, the touch of your friend...
Think of their smell inside you; you’ll feel they’re next to you now,
just think that they’re real...
Don’t loose them inside; they’re there in you now,
your heart can just feel them, if you ever ask how...
Think of the sunshine, then think of the day,
you’ll have just together loving hours away...
Now, give you a moment; that sweet memory made
a time yet to come should fate have its way...
Think of those time, things went so well,
and you didn’t even try; their smile so did tell...
For somewhere right now your friend thinks of you,
this moment you’re filling their heart with love too...
So, think and they’re with you; they’re inside you, you’ll see,
for you’re never really alone if you don’t want to be."
Memories come stealing back bringing longing, heartache, joy and sadness. That coupled with the ethereal beauty of a Water Lily who speaks makes this a magical rendering.
