A friend is someone
Who’s always there,
To love and comfort
With secrets to share.
To help you out
When things look blue,
To give advice and encouragement
When you don’t know what to do.

Someone to see you
For the person inside,
To partner your journey
To share in the ride.
To never ever judge you
And understand your sorrow,
To give you the strength
For a better tomorrow.

Someone to have fun with
A chat and a laugh,
Someone to stand beside you
On life’s long path.
Someone you trust
Above any other,
A shoulder to cry on
When you’re dumped by a lover.

Someone to pig out with
On a Saturday night,
Who eats all the chocolate
That leads to a fight.
To tell you your lover
Was a waste of space,
To pass you the vodka
To get off your face.

A friend is someone
Who gives you a hand,
To clean up the mess
When things don’t go as planned.
Who fights your corner
Whatever the cause,
Who defends your honor
And ignores all your flaws.

Someone you can lean on
When your world falls apart,
Who’ll pick up the pieces
Of your broken heart.
Who picks you up
When you fall down,
A friend is someone
Who’s always around.

Fine wine.

A true friend is to be savored like rare wine ~ but like rare wine, friendship takes time to achieve maturity.

Good, good, and good

It's clear, clean, simple, and direct;

disparaged by some for "Hallmark" qualities;

yet there's one thing it's not -

incoherent, babbling noise

what better mate to marry than a friend?

Absolutely

This is sooo true! I have a friend who is exactly like this - she is someone I can say anything to, do anything with and be myself with ~ This is a great Ode to all "Best" Friends....

So True

Nicely put. When something really bad happens you see who your real friends are.
