a friend on friendship

What is friendship all about?
It’s about being there and hanging out.
With your friend you can joke around,
And have conversations without making a sound.
You’re there when you’re needed,
And not always away.
You’re there to the end,
And you’re not going to stray.
A friend is someone who loves and cares for you,
Not someone who’ll use and abuse you.
I thought I had a best friend, someone I could trust,
Well boy was I wrong, and tragically crushed.
I don’t trust anyone now, and doubt if I will,
----- this is for you, from your ex-best friend?

Well, what do you think? Comments are appreciated! I did write this about 13 years ago... it's high school-ish, I know, but it's from the heart when I was in one of those three friend triangles... ugh.
