Harsh words, violent blows
Belted skin; anger grows
Cries that echo, tears that burn
Pleas unanswered; feel them yearn

Secrets kept, silence earned
Lives disrupted, pages turned
Broken values, shattered dreams
Empty feelings, hollow screams

Whispers silent, darkness nears
Aching rises, ready tears
Hearts on fire, souls destroyed
Lives diminished, minds devoid

Living barely, going on
Stepping forward, hope is gone
Wishes made, blow away
Struggle bravely, last the day

Great read!

This poem says a lot with great economy of language. Recommended in today's new poems reviews.
