Confusion creates a battle
To view clear images on the screen
Of my thoughts, rippling and clear.
Mental melodies flow continuously
Ever attempting to reach, to encourage
Gradual awakening to a new perception
Gently cascading from the mind
Flowing, uninhibited and joyously out
Through my pen, having no end
Knowing no discernible beginning
Momentum, increasing in volume and strength
Reaching my eardrum but finding response
In my chest, rising and falling with
Great depth and clarity, finally reaching
That pure and real dimension
Familiar responses to a known melody
Create a storm, clear and free of confusion
Reminders of emotion, self and expression
Through script and notes are expressed by
White refreshing keys, clear as they ripple
Fingers, agile and receptive
To my emotion, respond to the instructions
Of my heart; I desire more than feel
The existence of what is evoked
And know it must be, for I have created.
(written as a creative writing exercise while listening
to Sonata in G Major, op. 49, no. 2, Ludwig van Beethoven)
Even as a long time jazzbo I still marvel that a melody that gets played in the brain ~ then finds it's way down to the neck of my guitar ~ transmitted by my fingers into the void.
Excellently done exercise
Creating in the reader's mind
The feel of the music
As though it's playing in the background
While the reader follows along.
As a musician I know what you feel with the cascade of sounds that flow between the heart and the hands. I also know the emotions that come and go with the notes that are deciphered by your fingers and sent to your soul. You did a very good job of describing what most have only tried to. Thank you for the inspiration. You make me want to play.
The feeling I felt when reading this was if it were me there, in your place. Yes, just perfectly placed on paper the feelings between what is supposed to be, what is and the translation that flows out.
Thank you.
cool exercize! Knowing this, I read it again with a new appreciation.
