Rewrite of Billy Joel's classic, New York State of Mind

Some folks like to just look the other way
This time of year
They like to let the rest of their neighborhood decide
Personally I think they should all take a flight outta this country
Or maybe a rocket to outerspace
Drown along the Hudson River Line
If they're not in a voting state of mind

You see all the movie and tv stars
In their fancy cars and limousines
Living high off the hog in the Rockies under the evergreens
Do they really care about the changes this country is desperatley needing?
Or are they just like some of you?
Wasting their vote and wasting their time
Not in a voting state of mind

It's so easy living day by day
Out of touch with the current Wall Street blues
But now more than ever you have to give a little and start taking a lot less
Read your New York Times
Thumb through your Daily News

It comes down to this reality
Just can't sit back
Don't care if you live in Chinatown or on Riverside
Don't wanna hear your reasons
Why you won't and don't want to
Gotta leave 'em all behind
Get yourself into a voting state of mind

It's so easy living day by day
Out of touch with the current Wall Street blues
But now more than ever you have to give a little and start taking a lot less
Read your New York Times
Thumb through your Daily News

It comes down to this reality
Just can't sit back
Don't care if you live in Chinatown or on Riverside
Don't wanna hear your reasons
Why you won't and don't want to
Gotta leave 'em all behind
Get yourself into a voting state of mind

If you ain't ready or wantin' to start
Than might I suggest you take a greyhound
And get outta my town
Cut out that old bs line
And get yourself into a voting state of mind
