A Warm Body

There she lies
In the next room
And I wonder why she’s here
Ne’er my wife
And yet she swoons
For what I refuse deliver

On my right ankle
A tattoo of death
One of daisies on her left

Though her I thank
For her soft breath
To fall upon my neck

She fills some hole within
Some whole not at all complete
Evermore may pass while
While loneliness competes
And nothing corrupts
The spoiled whole
While that hole within corrodes
From her presence and loyalty
Comes an acid love and hold
