This one's blind:
of a time that
never was...        thankfully.

Naive?
Yes, but to think
what I thought,
that almost was,
could have been.

Did never almost
happen,
or was it
a little game
all along?

Different towns, cities,
places
            that never were:
not sure I could
count them on
one hand.

It almost was,
that never could be,
about a year ago.
You sure fooled me!

Some consolation
that I am not alone.
I envision
a fighter plane,
(I always wanted to fly)
with all the kills
painted in neat little rows.

More than I could
count on one hand,
that would make you an ace,
like Eddie Rickenbacker
and the Red Baron.

What a swirl
I made
as I crashed
and burned,
as you painted
another kill.

Almost one,
what never was
or ever could be
and I never knew
till written in the sky.
