The clear assumption
was that I was moping on the moon
just awaiting my chance to float off
bright, like the twinkle night sky
but my ego has yet to do jumping jacks
and dirt scented earth is home
to soles planted, dreams grounded
I dare not, care not, to fly.
So take that bright light abroad
and find another smile on cue.
I could not, would not, sell myself
to help you, or the world.
My earth, plantation, home
is here in this shadow
forsaken by the twist of lime
bold in light.

An interesting sounding piece; grounded in the real while turning away from impractical fantasy.

Interesting metaphor. A movie "star" living in shadows on a sunny moon beach or something. It makes me think, drawing my own inferences out of the lines. Thanks for the poetry brain workout.
