After I first saw a pussy,
fresh, and shivering and maned,
between your red face and fidgeting toes
in a light you had meant to turn off,
things changed a bit.

Colors brightened, and smudged.
Playthings were everywhere!
Whites ivoried, reds scarletted.
Laughter was louder and less funny.
The way to your house was longer and effortless.
Blacks enlarged, rounded and recessed.
Playthings were everywhere!
Your eyes wider, stares more frequent.
Days blurred and and nights blinded.
Blues moistened, yellows blonded.
Your hands were colder, your nails sharper.
Nostrils permanently flared.
Playthings were everywhere!
Giggles cut, whispers exploded.
Games forgot their rules.
Your light was always turned off before I arrived.
Shrieks dissolved into static beneath a favorite song on the radio.
Eyesight sharpened, sightlines softened
Playthings were everywhere!
Your words were more important, with fewer syllables.
Toys were no longer to be shared.
Browns furred, pinks freckled,
Your legs were guiderails I didn't need, but always used.
Playthings were everywhere!
But playtime was over.

And a boy aching for manhood learned himself a little truth.
There are no men.
We are big boys forever.
