Safe in the wet darkness,
cloaked in misty rain that falls like dreams.
Hypnotic-
the drip drop murmur,
coaxing thoughts of you.
Curling like the smoke I exhale,
the gray haze of hurt.
Do you think of me?
Single salty sting falls,
a liquid burn on a winter chapped cheek.
All I’ll give to you-
all I’ll give for you,
this quickly licked away regret.
Thoughts of you fading with
the taste on my tongue.
I will forget you.

clever.......

the way you never call a tear by it's name. almost like, if you don't say it, it isn't so. after all, alone in the darkness...who could prove it, right?

vivid...i can hear the rain and see tendrils of smoke wafting from your cigarette. all in darkness....the smoke the only proof you exist.

capturing fleeting pains

No, you say bravely, I gotcha! I'll portray you too, even for posterity. Where others may just nod and wish the memory away, you zoom right in and transform such an evasive entity for us to examine. Do I certainly believle you? It's not for you to judge. You, like a fisherman (fisher person?) brought from the sea this poem and now we can see. Nope, I think there are more to come from where this one came from before they are all gone...

You can almost feel the poignant salty taste of regret and loss.
