Waking up from a dream

I reach out to find you are not there

The ghosts of memories

Float through my subconscious

Leaving me with a yearning so deep

I am unable to breathe

Laying in the darkness,

listening to the silence

wanting so much to be held

But I am left with only

The emptiness that the night brings,

and the bitter taste of tears

As they flow gently down my cheeks
