You see me
like no one else does...
bare, broken,
the ugly truth of me
that's hidden from the world,
but not from you.

You see me...
yet you still care
to share with me,
despite the knowledge
that you bear
of who, of what I am.

You see me
in laughter
and in tears;
the height and breadth
and depth of me
is open to your heart.

You see me...
yet you still stay
to teach me
all the worth
you see in me...
to show me love.

*chuckles*

This isn't your typical "love poem", Cleardaynow. In fact, I wouldn't have classified it as such at all, though love for a friend is love, no? This really is just a poem of appreciation and love for a best girlfriend of mine -- she is Latina, hence the title. We've no interest in each other in any other way than as the dearest of friends, and she has been showing me how very much I am blessed to have her in my life during a very difficult time.

I hope the gag reflex has dissipated now? LOL!

Love and/but?

I sort of feel this poem needs to be taken in conjunction with your other two poems concerning love today. It is nicely done but as with many love poems strays ever so close to the fingers down the throat reaction. Probably just a reflection on my age, cynicism and high failure rate through life.
