I want to run away and cry
Lose myself in despair
Just lay me down and die
She’s having an affair

My heart has been torn in two
There’s not much else to say
At least I heard the news from you
I’m trying hard to live each day

My mind is clouded with doubt
It affects each waking move
The pain’s trying to get out
This is what it feels to be in love

I hate the thought of you with him
I just want it to be me
I guess I’d best go to the gym
Train till I drop, then we’ll see

I want my arms round you
And your body next to mine
It really should be we two
As we said, till the end of time

You rip my mind apart
I know there nothing I can do
I’ll just make a new start
But I can’t stop loving you

The pain it just won’t go away
I try to make it stop
It just rears up each day
And slaps me like a crop

I cry inside and smile
As the world passes by
I live this lie with style
While deep inside I die

I don’t want this hate and fear
Feeding off my tortured soul.
Each time that you are near
You seem to make me whole

My life without you would be dull
I dream of you with me each day
‘Cos your smile just makes me full
While my mind just screams why?

Why have an affair?
Why with him?
Why not me?
I am in despair.

You say you didn’t want to hurt me
What do you think you’ve done?
You say your morals wouldn’t let you
But you went along with him.

I feel defeated and alone
I love my wife but is it enough
I loved you before I met her
Did I marry in haste or hate?

I always wanted you,
I’ve known that from the start
I met you and fell in love
You stole away my heart.

I found out you were married
It killed me deep inside
I wanted to have you there and then
Throw my morals to one side

We’ve become good friends over time
I thought it would be enough
We talked about our feelings online
Life became, for me, very tough.

By this time I was getting married
What was there to do now?
You knew my wife, and liked her
You didn’t want to cause trouble

But you’ve done it now
With someone else
Who’s married too
Do you know her?

Is that the reason it was him
You didn’t know his wife
So you don’t care about causing pain
I hope you’re happy with your life

No matter what I write
I can’t afford to lose you
You are my guiding light
I need you near me too

Have your affair
When it ends in tears
I’ll still be there
For all the coming years

Remember these little words
I friend is always there to help
A shoulder to cry upon
When all else goes, I’m your friend

Remember me I’ll be right here
You shelter in the storm
Your light in the dark
Your friend, for all time.

bared emotions

Just friends ~ lovers no more. I'll be here for you.

There's nothing like a farce for an early morning laugh;

It's not about a man betrayed by a lover or even wife

But it seems more a soap opera tale of husbands and wives hooking up with abandon,

And how this man feels betrayed by someone else's wife!

Well, that takes care of the wake-up chuckle.

And it did rescue what first seemed to be a pretty predictable piece of writing.
