fear, anger, lust, ambition-
the dark side are these
or so goes the sickly, impotent meme
popularized by a B sci-fi classic

yet what man really doesn't
glance at the bomb-shell blonde in the black mini-skirt
in front of him in line at the liquor store?
do we really get strangled
if we "load up the bong" and "crank up the song?" -Sublime
And I've known saints and Buddhist monks-
they're very boring

who,
of those with real scars,
hasn't the occasional fantasy
of vengeful gore?

who doesn't feel the pull
of posh privilleges, reputation, fulfillment,
and the elation of "savage" ability?

who does not, gun-less in the pitiless jungle,
before the tiger cower?
And who's afraid of a clean-cut choir boy
with a laser-toy?

Now and then
I've been as good as Obi Wan Kanobe-
(ask around Phetchaburi Province, Thailand)
but these days I say:

forget the insipid senate
the dark side just serves me better
