Anniversary 911

They hadn't been lovers for awhile
he was the love of her life
lost him by choice
she stood alone
as he hid in the shadows.
Aftertime forgivness gave way
friendship renewed.
Then came that day
came that wonderful, horrible day
wretched for many
but for her also joyously amazing
when Love was professed.
He remembered-
catching her off guard
on that anniversary date.
Sending her back to the past
to a time of great passion
where lust had no bounds
when time stood still.
She gave into the moment
like the years had never passed
and the fire still lingered.
Her soul thought
what a wonderful gift
non she had ever known
her heart thanking him
for returning it to her
with precious memories
mended and strong.
Although lovers
they may never be again
in him now she has
a dear loving friend.
She learned on that day
what they say is ever so true-
Love is the one thing
that will break your heart
and yet the only thing
that can truely heal it.
