Another long night
The curtains shift and bend
Just the wind, just the wind

Hushed and harsh beep
Letting me know I still live
Withholding freedom that death gives

Shadows churn on the wall
Playing across the timeless clock
Nothing here to see, no family flock

Sickening silence in black
No voice nor motion in the hall
Only harsh tick and beep is all

Faces in the dim
Kaleidoscope blur of strangers
And the hollow wish for blinders

Empty echoes from the past
Filling the empty hours now
Haunting the night that falls down

Down, down, down
Deeper into void, deeper into lost
Paying now that long gathered cost
