As I untangled my yarn
I remember Vanilla our
Cat who used to
Find it to tangle

Which brings me to remember
Carmel his brother
Who was shy
My favorite cuddler

They were the best of friends
Hard to tell apart
One had yellow eyes
The other green

As I untangle my yarn
I see the small pair of scissors
With the pretty blue ribbon
Which holds it to my yarn bag

I remember my friend
Who did that for me
I betrayed her trust
Now she no longer talks to me

As I untangle my yarn
I contemplate the bag
A gift made by a friend
Who is very special to me

She has been there through
Thick and thin
Was my anchor
Thru my last depression

We have drifted apart
I long to talk to her
Can't burden her with any
More of my pain

As I untangle my yarn
I think off this simple act
That bring up haunting memories
Of loss
