lay down, twins
hope meets sufferance meets awe
beat that drum play your heart
find your wings and find your start
there goes this way
a slight of hand – a genuine gentleman
believe in me
trust my true, straight forbearance, mark and hue
above my breath a canopy of light and lilt and sanity
lay down, twins
make this life
breathe your skeletal sense a wife
ground and sky will meet in you
when dust and drums cannot renew
snake and bird find shelter in this eddied delta
hem the log and sew your sight, we’ll lay down, twins, into the night
