The price was paid in tears
his & his, hers & hers
life's ups, now downs
'til new selves found
and reality becomes clear

Agree except

A cost benefit analysis is done with the brain, not the heart and, at least for me, they quite frequently disagree. I have spent way too many years depreciating the value of the heart. The really good business folks learn that the numbers are not the full story. But I see and feel your point. Even in the happiest times you can feel a building balance due and there are circumstances that force you to pay. Again, sigh.

Nothing ever comes free, Oldbear. It all boils down to cost-benefit analysis...or you know, emotions and culture, like most humans.

Boy do I dread this

But sooner or later...'til new selves found" sigh.
