Ballad of Man

We start as boys
fresh from the womb..
into a woman's arms we're laid
a cold hard world to meet

we're taught
right from the start
to ignore pain
tears are for women, not for men

our mothers, they made us
fathers, they trained us
body to an angle...full fist
to the opponent

through our lives
time and time again
pain is nothing feeling is a weakness
all is an opponent

then we're thrown
to nature's basics
and we learn to please
work hard and place first

again the message
from society and women
"if ya want me"...damn sure
better be the "He"

and so I learned well
trained above the class
one hell of a soldier
till my last breath

show me a goal
be damn sure I achieve it
show me a land
be damn sure I conquer it

but deep down inside
the tears they run
deep down inside
the feelings won't shun

the ballad of man
true to us
valor ages old
to few instilled

but to those few
whom I number
hard lines...hard muscles
will endure us

a world changed so fast
but still the handful
the past has raised
carry a torch

and so I say
in these closing verses
train your eyes, your heart
to observance

for here we stand
proud as the way we was raised
it's the ballad of man
from which hero's are made

it's the ballad of man
when all is at an end
that will carry this race
to the next millenium
