An ancient tower adorned with a clock,
And a respectable shining cape
A mischievous sun on its head
Does its best to disrupt every shot,
Then impetuously disappears with no track
From the building atop,
A humongous Stradivarius silently hoorays
Red petunias and federal employees
Shake heads to the vista,
Fifty something shy holders
Of baby silver spangled stars
Bravely displayed to shaking cameras
By running mates, not so simple!
A trouble craving, light headed wind
Conspires to snatch away our tickets
We hold to our chests, displaying
To golden virgin Nymphs,
Eighteen feet high plus
Miscellaneous marine life,
Our proof that we are us,
Confirmed late travellers to America,
Have officially arrived.

A definite

welcome home in that case. This poem was quickly added to my favorites for your quirky lines; something I've nearly come to expect. I'll even forgive the exclamation point because of the title and some genius lines. "Fifty something shy holders

Of baby silver spangled stars Bravely displayed to shaking cameras" "By running mates A trouble craving, light headed wind Conspires to snatch away our tickets" Absolutely wonderful, my only suggestion would be to watch the horrid Microsoft Word curse (that was mentioned to me long ago by a fellow lit poet), it will capitalize all of your new lines, which can change the flow of your poem.

Theres idiots everywhere you go.

And Ballimer ain't no bad door to step through. I remember the Shot Tower well. And Harper's Ferry is my #1 favorite place in this country. A wilderness camp site in So Dakota is 2nd. Go figure.......................

Sorry about the ShitForBrains commentor, but I didn't make any innocent mistakes. Did I say 'Go to the Shot tower? No, I just said I remembered it. And I know where Harpers Ferry is. I've been going there since 1972 for R&R. And it IS pronounced Ballimer.

It takes all kinds, Kolkore. Thank God folks like that one are rare. But keep in mind since it's anonymous it could be anyone from the Poetry Forum, also. And just ignore. It'll all come out in the wash.

Hey Anon,

Why are you punishing ME for Boo's (I hope you don't mind the affectionate short hand) innocent mistake? I know EXACTLY what runs through the waters of the inner bay, member? I 've been there last week... It's the water taxi and these hillarious amphibian "Ducks" (can't remember the full commercial name).

Harper's ferry is in WVA you hick!

and if you went to the shot tower that would be what would happen to you, shot. It's now a drug heaven. How long has it been since you were in Baltimore? 20 years? You ever see the show called The Wir? that's Big B today.
