Because of You (To my Daughter's Dad)

When I went in the cafe I saw you laughing with your mates,
And so I sat there right before you and talked like I thought you was great.
It was fun to watch you squirm and wriggle like a little worm
As you looked at the baby in my buggy (you see, I know I'm lucky).
And I do'nt resent you - I'll never ask you for money,
Criticise the way you live , or badmouth your latest honey.
A lot of people think the way you act is selfish and bad -
Okay, it's true, you threw me away -
But our baby was the best in life that you could have had.
(But you firmly made your choice - you are NOT her dad).

But I do'nt resent over presents never sent,
And all the time you was never there I do'nt lose sleep
Because you do'nt care.
You see, it's like this:
Because of you I can watch my baby
Grow from toddler to girl to lady,
I love this amazing little girl
Who lights my life and is my world.
Because of you I read nursery rhymes,
I see her grow, I take great pride
In everything she says and does,
When I think of her I think of love.
Because of you I cut up fruit, I pour her milk
And when I hold her she feels like silk.
When she laughs I understand
She holds the sunshine in her hands.
Because of you, all this is true
And that is why I do'nt resent you.

When I saw the look in your eyes,
The one you had as we said goodbye
I could tell you regretted, I knew you was sorry,
But that wo'nt cause me any worry.
I'm her mother, I'll love her I'll give her the world
I'll raise her with love because she's my girl.
She'll love me back with love that is true
And one day she'll see you and say
"Who are you?"
And then you will realise to your cost,
Her love is my gain
And forever YOUR LOSS.
