In a field of green beyond the horizon,
where paper rainbows and glass rain are kept,
she drifted and dreamed of magical days,
when time seemed endless and lovers never slept.

A time when she would be clad in nothing more
than golden tresses and a lover’s heart,
when desire kept her warm and safe with her thoughts
and her nakedness bared only her imagination.

The world lay at her feet as would a servant,
willing to please and eager to perform,
the skies obliged her and Mother Earth
draped all around her in a magical beauty.

Her lover, sure in the knowledge she wished
to learn and gentle with his student,
for he knew her as special and uniquely his,
no question went unanswered and no desire unfilled.

But that was a land of fairy tales
She woke each day in a land much different
and she lay beneath lover after lover until finally,
sleep brought the dreams that her life never will.

I simply loved...

your poem, especially the ending which I thought was powerful and full of meaning. Well done.
