pondering the nape of his neck
fills me with warm tenderness
must be the way a mother feels
but he is no man-child of mine
and I’m everything but a mother
my anger fades, then evaporates
I bury my face there gently
licking and biting, savoring
the bittersweet flavor of
acceptance and forgiveness

The tender feelings that come out ~ when two people make up.

~~

The mother-figure comes to his rescue;

The few will play their role and seek forgiveness,

Most will blow it and press an ill-conceived advantage.
