Now it's starting
Starting all over again
All the hate, pain, fear
And emptiness
The wars
Are starting again

Now all that you see
Are guns and knives
And all that you hear
Are the sounds of bombs
Taking away innocent lives

But all that they can hear
And all that they can see
Are the sights and sounds
Of that bittersweet victory

When is this hell
Going to end
Can't they see
How pointless this is
Ever since the wars began
Peace
Has lost all meaning

But all that they can hear
And all that they can see
Are the sights and sounds
Of that bittersweet victory

And when it's all over
Will there be one
Who will claim
The final victory

Or will there only be
The faded thoughts
And distant dreams
Of that bittersweet victory

But all that they could hear
And all that they could see
Were the sights and sounds
Of that bittersweet victory

All victories are suspect ~ does anyone ever really win.

i was told recently

amid tales of tears and waste

of all things to consider

that bittersweet is an adult taste

how ironic is it then

if we think through it

that so often it is childishness

what leads us to it

~~

Whatever the war,

between couples that fight

or nations armed to the teeth,

victory can indeed be bittersweet.

A belated Welcome to Lit.
