Sometimes I barely miss him
But reminders crop up.
I feel him watching, frustrated.
I see his tracks, his threads.

I watch him also.
I wish I could comfort and guide
But he who is uncontrolled --
He would lead me?

My role is greatly confused.
I do not dare continue.
He has recast me as enemy
I withdraw by his command.

For if any lord is to be my shepherd,
He shall not lead me into turmoil
He will not destroy my soul.
He shall not guide me in paths
Of hurtfulness for his ego's sake.
