Carry me home,
Blackbird’s in the yard.

Carry my bones,
Blackbird’s in the yard.

Hold to my hand,
Blackbird’s a’ comin’.

Watch me walkin ‘tween his eyes,
Blackbird’s in the yard.

Follow on, Brother,
Blackbird’s in the yard.

Follow on, Sister,
Blackbird’s in the yard.

Past Heaven to the Cypress Grove
Blackbird’s a’ comin.

Watch me laughin’, Ole Blackbird.

     (steady as a train)

Watch me walkin’, Ole Blackbird.

     (sharp as a razor)

Poet's Note: This is a lyric, or, at least, suggests some accompanying or internal vocal or instrumental harmony and/or rhythm. It was inspired by spiritual and blues music.

Mmmm!

This left me with a low, buzzing feeling in my belly... yummy! Like I should be sitting on a front porch, listening to an old man blowing a harp and singing this ole blues tune. It feels timeless, like something calling me home.
