the halfstuffed scarecrow
laying in the hallway
strewn and strawn
filled with failing pieces of love
doing the all that I can
pulling them back in
desperately holding on
dying trying to keep
together

She left me
So long
So long ago
If only she had told me
Maybe I would’ve known better
And now she’s left me
With memories
I dare not keep.

A good read on several levels

But the part I liked was one I invented,

The lament of the scarecrow over the loss of Dorothy.

"the halfstuffed scarecrow

laying in the hallway

strewn and strawn"

I love the words 'strewn and strawn'. They just whirl around inside my head like a dervish.

"With memories

I dare not keep."

Soulfull. That's all.

a friend told me to check out your work, but I have been too lazy to look up your name, kept spelling it wrong, but thank goodness you have a new one out today! And I see what she means. Nice write! I will have to go read the rest.

Welcome, a bit late, but new to me :)
