The quiet spread -
A warming flush; it flows
Beyond compare: so coy and, then,
Such guilt.
This poem reminds me of my ambivalence toward surrendering to passion the first time I was physically intimate with someone after suffering a traumatic breakup. Your verse is effusive yet restrained, a beautifully envisioned contrast.
It draws me in powerfully then leaves me a little off kilter at the end—Guilty, perhaps.
