view the expanse

yours and mine
the only way out
one step
if only flying
as simple as breathing
or not
lost and found in one breath
slowly
it happened so slowly
placed happily on a pedestal
I never noticed
as each feather fell
to subtle plucking
until bare
bleeding
broken
there’s no way down
but falling
