Awash in azure light that falls
Unfiltered shine from cobalt sky
Builders move from finished task
Sand castle formed for none to see.

Seaweed petals from afar
Roil in sea foam drawing near
Pushed closer now by summer breeze
Adding to the hues and shades.

Crafted sand with driftwood spires
Sits in forlorn solitude
Builders gone to seek afar
Milkshakes and tea cakes to share as well.

Washing waves near what was built
Sloughing down what had been felt
Carried off to anemones
The feelings left in melted sand.

Turquoise sky now watching o'er
The parted builders wanderings
Past the scrub oak of the shore
Toward ashtrees grouped in one large stand.

Feelings drift between the pair
Building castles from more than sand
Watchful sky now sheltering
Lovers build more poignant things
