Busy Bee

Always something to do, somewhere to be
Dawn to dusk I'm a worker bee
Work to do, laundry to fold, to-do list a mile long
Trying to keep the house moving along
Rushing here and there, buzzing as I go
One thing done yet another replaces the never-ending to-do list
Left wondering, what is the point? Why do I do this?
Promises to cut back and to make time fall on death ears
Knowing and needing to be everything—the queen, drone and worker bee
Contorting my body plugging holes, stinging what gets in my way
Putting out one fire as another threatens to brew
Exhausted and yearning for easier days, yet making due with chaos today
Work/home balance but a joke for this busy bee
Buzzing to and from, pushing forward with faint gleams of hope for the future
Time to smell the roses, live in the moment, time to think, time to be
Long time coming for this overworked buzzing bee
