I don't think I can do this again
I said to myself, to my skeptical friends.
Explaining myself,
What makes me tick,
Hearing his story,
Why is he the way he is and
what does he need to be happy.
So much time and energy
invested in love
Not returned.
Then a musty bookstore's doorbell jangled
and admitted an enigma
who didn't ask for explanation.
Do I have a daddy complex or what
What do I need to feel complete and
where is this thing going anyway?
This mystery only asked me to breathe
...and stretch
...and be.
And so it became easier than water
telling who I am
And who I am became clear
for the first time.
