What have we done, you and I?
How did we get to where we are?
Can you feel me?
Do you need me?

It’s not you next to me, but you’re here
Those aren’t your hands touching me, but I feel you.
Your lips don’t kiss me, but I taste you.

Promises made, vows spoken, children to raise
Bills to pay, hearts to protect, secrets to hide
Lives to live

What have we done, you and I?
How did we get to where we are?
Can you feel me?
Do you need me?

Touch my heart, can you feel the need in me?
Kiss my lips, can you feel the fire there?
Breathe my breath, can you taste me?

Will this heal the wound, or deepen the scar?
Will this quench the thirst, or parch our souls?
Will this break our hearts, or mend the crack?

What have we done, you and I?
How did we get to where we are?
Can you feel me?
Do you need me?

Don’t walk away, until we’ve moved closer
Don’t give up, until we’ve tried harder
Don’t let go, until we’ve held on tighter

Hold me, kiss me, make me feel you
Touch me, love me, hold me like you need me
Bring me back to life

What have we done, you and I?
How did we get to where we are?
Can you feel me?
Do you need me?
