she is cold, alone and bleeding.
she is a child lost in a storm.
hard men are searching for her,
she has nowhere else to run.

she longs to sleep for evermore
and dreams a rampant stallion,
its hooves stabbing into the night,
its wild eyes like blazing comets.

a tree sprouts from her belly,
the moon rises from her head,
the night distills into cool water
and flows into the bay as dawn.

she wakes aside a rock cairn,
the horse gently grazing near.
her hands stretch out as leaves,
her voice is flower-scented air.

Nice imagery -

takes some thinking about.

What I find really interesting about this is that the layout and rhythm make it seem like this rhymes - but it doesn't.
