Cinderella Disappointed

byTzara©

Her chambermaid's smile says
that he could clear her drudgery,
turn her blood blue

with joy, if only for
one random weekend night. But
he owns no magical shoe

of glass or fur
to slip onto that small white foot,
just some acrylic four-inch heels

left over from a bleary afternoon
with two eager sisters
and their mother, long ago.
