Crave Maker

“Five golden decades we’ve been married today, in times of good, better and not
  Spent in laughter, tears and all too average of moments that we soon just simply forgot
  The plans, the goals and all the dreams that we held so close to our young wedded heart
  Have lived, some died as we’ll someday do~ true to our vows, ‘til death do us part’”

*******

Our marriage contract renewed today
All interested parties present
at the chapel signing for this, our
golden umbrella clause of
wedded work achievement
Our oldest son proudly
announcing this evening
at a celebration held in our honor:

“There had never been a day of
vacation away from it
Not a moment of either of my parents
thinking of retiring from it
There’s only one sick day allowed in
this type of work; one permanent sick leave
given for each - but that will be
at the Owner’s discretion
It’s all in the scrolled fine print; all etched
in stone for this, His staff of two.
Fifty years’ service faithful
to the same company
by the same company
with the same company
Their dedication and hard work
paying off with priceless dividends of love
for each other and for five children
This corporation’s success of mutual growth
tied secure with strong family bonds
So on behalf of their
wedded union’s Celestial Delegate,
I present to you
my Mother and Father”...

Driving home together amid
well wishers’ confetti strewn blessings,
I dwell within devotion’s reflective thoughts
There is one additional perk,
one very special bonus shared
between this man and wife...

It’s become such a comfortable love.

A time honored ceremony;
Life’s watch keeping track
of seventy two years and more;
prayerfully more time granted
to tick away in my soul mate’s embrace
Our lovemaking, mellow and aged to perfection
like brie and fine wine
Separate beds now;
not out of spite or indifference,
but out of understanding and compassion
Though he will come to mine tonight,
lying alongside me for precious one
of too few so cherished moments;
whispering soft incoherent syllables
into his shallow breath’s chosen ear;
his tired eyes gazing into those just as weary
Then in spousal commonality... we will smile
As fifty years of tears, each fallen rhinestone
a dedication to memories happiest,
we will spill into this, as
enchantment’s star showered night
I will crave his fingers’ trembling caress
and yearn for his time weathered lips,
sealing intimate promises made and tenderly kiss kept
He will nestle within me; familiar and cozy,
like the overstuffed armchair in the parlor
And I will be wooed in contentment
within his seasoned arms; wrinkles deep creased
from a half century of hugs enfolding
his now silver haired bride
Once a boiling passion, now tepid temp;
his mind, heart and spirit more than willing to consummate
though his body more likely not
And we’ll fall asleep amidst ‘almost there’s’
But we shall take it in twilight years’ stride
knowing love is so comfortably complete

in this, our golden days way.

*****

This chapter, a dedication to all of the first time, only time, for a lifetime marriages.

I envy you.

Speaking of getting old....

Nice contrast to LeBroz's "A Girl's Best Friend". Here's the way we all want to spend the sunset years, with someone warm, loving, & comforting.

the older you get..........

The older I get the more I'm thinking the love and sex will always be there. But, like here, not with quite the exuberant enthusiasm. ;-) Terrie

Perfect!!

So sweet the way you describe their lifetime love together that now has assumed another dimension. It's not quite the same as it was in their 30s. CP

This is so sweet

A wonderful tale of a love that grows and never dies. Life's passions may be banked but love remains.

Pleasure of contemplation

Reading this makes growing old --- especially if it is together --- look like something to look forward to.
