You hide from mirrors
Preferring to reside
In the soft confines
Of my troubled mind.
We confer when we think
That we have a chance
When no one is looking
We feel 'us' at last.

At first I thought you were torment
Loki, you were silently present
Always at the worst times.
Quiet despite
the endlessness
of the suffering.
Bringing choirs and blood,
and no answers, no promises,
So I blamed you for all this.

But now I see the method,
The whispered command
'Breathe'
Yes, I see the need
So I sleep and wake and feed.
You follow me, sow seeds,
Into the many barren places
Where once I coveted sanity
Where I longed for release.
And now I wait
Recognising our faces
And our plea.

Ok -

it does take some reading and rereading, this.
I do enjoy it, though it does leave me a little unsettled...
