So maybe it's like two kids
returning to school
after summer break.
Picking up a friendship
as if they had been together
only yesterday.

Or a chess game
that goes on and on,
for days, weeks, months.
Each move and counter
excites a conversation.
Neither looks to win, only play.

There is no time,
only hours, days weeks.
Meaningless measurements.
The occasional milestone
holiday
offering up a thoughtful pause.

And so our conversation goes on
and on,
with timeless breaks leaving dust
on the chess board.
The next word blows away the dust.
The conversation continues.

Reminds me of me and my sister

We're like this.

I know nothing about poetry, btw. Just what I like and don't. I like your style.

;)

One wonders, Fool,

if you would be quite so happy to converse with Poet Guy as with, say, Angeline and her, well, girliness.

Poet Guy plays chess exceedingly badly, though. Perhaps that might compensate for his lacking external appeal.

Anyway, good poem. Poet Guy liked it.

very well thought out leading to the last stanza that ties it all up and says it all really
