--- a hand-held terzanelle ---

The steady dance of warm fingers entwined,
When two cross together and danger's there,
Painting a loving sign of trust that's blind.

Intimate echoes beat heart's tattoo rare,
At Truth's moment that's given and signed,
When two cross together and danger's there.

Surprised we all are as though stupid and blind,
But love bursts suddenly at proximity's dare
At Truth's moment that's given and signed.

The secret, hidden language that made us scare
In the open for all to see us, we two of a kind,
But love bursts suddenly at proximity's dare.

Fingers brush, then take hold, there to bind.
Surprised, our mouths drop. We stop and stare
In the open for all to see us, we two of a kind.

But no one notices in this straight-world lair
The steady dance of warm fingers entwined,
Surprised, our mouths drop. We stop and stare,
Painting a loving sign of trust that's blind.
