Here it comes a calling
there I go I am a crawling.
Can't get away from this thing
why does it hate me so much!
Things were going so well and
in an instant its all gone to hell!
What price do I need to pay for
protection from the the gods?
Why am I always at odds with
this two- headed monster?
One says it loves me and
the other revels in my misery.
Like a tidal wave it sweeps me away,
but it is too soon to be my last day.
But I will not give up on myself
for I have this plan.
Me and this thing
we will settle this man to man.
Where are you foe of mine
come on out I will kick your behind.
Why do you always destroy my dreams?
Why are you always out to get me it seems?
So let's do this face to face!
A voice that sounds like mine
says "you both share the same place!"
I do not understand how can that be,
why don't I understand that
My own worst enemy is me!

Make it not you. You aren't the one that says those things. Make it a small child with buck teeth and unruly hair. Then tell him to shut up.
