could a noble night bring peace by peace
by lantern light make delicate flowers grow
blush bloom bright by fireside stroking embers
till licking flames dance and play curious ways
kissing fire to those open places so she says

for playful peony a delphinium from Delphi
yet could they be made to smell as sweet
as nightbloomed gardenia held soft in hand
delicious or delicate as lacey laces
spun strung through those secret places

your offered cup shimmers with bright desire
lip brimmed sips taken in careful cadence
scrying to find a fit fitful nightspun sire
elusive elocution passed from tongue to tongue
our tale of this evening has only just begun
