I catch myself remembering
The taste of your skin years after you are gone
Knowing the scars you left may never fade
And I run my fingers through the grass
Under which you lay
I am avenged knowing that your unrest is eternal
And that makes missing you strange
For a moment ago I could feel your teeth graze my neck
And feel your breath in my ear
You haunt my dreams, some days you drive me insane
From the shadows of your shallow grave
And I know that though Death may bind you
You vowed that I should never forget
And that is why a hundred scars decorate my flesh
And a thousand bruises have rotted my soul
Startle me, if the wind should suddenly ever howl in pain
I turn and expect to see you there
Haunt me, then
Torment me
Remind me of what might've been
For the beatings I have taken from you
Will become kisses when I join you again.
