Dawn breaks

Looking through my window to find you.
The glass clearer now, still smeared and dulled after the years.
Desire regained; to search, to hope.

Passersby's notice, some wave.
Curtain held, easy to drop down.
Choosing, some talk through the window.

Occasionally letting them see me.

Dawn breaks

I've gazed so long I felt frozen.
Thaw arrived in uncalendar Spring, after Winter threatened rein eternal.
Frost cleared, visage returns; my look no longer a stare.

Ability to speak, recalled.
Still using the curtain, to obscure.
Window or one-way mirror at my choosing.

Occasionally they do see me.

Dawn breaks

Dancing again with you.
Dust stirs below my feet, stars befriend me here.
I can't breathe, drunk on air; despising despair.

Secret safe, yours and mine.
Relish our times, your times, common and uncommon friends.
I know too little and too much, but either is enough.

Dawn breaks, I stayed up all night (again) and finally feel right.
