Lightly as a dancer leaping,
sunlight stirs and, slowly creeping,
climbs the stone walls to your bed,
leans upon the ledge and lingers,
then, stretching out her golden fingers,
braids your hair with golden thread.

Eager now, her smile dismisses
cheerless night and sun-soft kisses
brush the slumber from your face,
till in the moment of your waking,
warmed, you greet the daylight's breaking
wrapped within her fond embrace.

From one dawn lover to another
